Oscilloscope Diagnostic Training

High Pressure Pump

Oscilloscope Diagnostics - Course Details

You may realise that to be able perform quick accurate diagnostics, you need more than a scan tool and a multi-meter. Come on this course and use a variety of scopes, or bring your own along and you can use it during the practical sessions. This course takes technicians through the effective use and interpretation of oscilloscope waveforms.

Course Objective: By the end of this course you will be able to use an oscilloscope to perform quick accurate diagnosis of complex electronic systems, understand where and how to best measure signals with the oscilloscope and how recognise the difference between good and poor oscilloscope patterns.

Who Should Attend: Workshop technicians who are involved with vehicle diagnostics. To gain maximum benefit form this course attendees should have an understanding of sensor and actuator operation and knowledge of basic electrical/electronic principles.

This is a intermediate level course.

The course covers:

How best to set-up an oscilloscope in order to measure system voltages
Interpret simple and complex waveforms
• Setting triggers, using cursors and recording waveform 'movies'
Diagnosing common sensor and actuator faults
• Analysing Component Relationships
Performing effective ignition analysis
• Current Ramping (fuel pumps, ignition coils and injectors)

We encourage course participants to bring along their own hand held scopes so that you can learn on the equipment you will use when you return to work.
