Vehicle Networks - Course Details
The modern motor vehicle
will contain in excess of 20 different computer
controlled systems. These systems are linked together through several networks. This presents vehicle technicians with a
number of different testing and repair options when the vehicle develops a
fault. This course will examine the how, what, why, when and how of
in-vehicle networking, and provide practical techniques for test, analysis,
diagnosis and repair. This course will deal with CAN, VAN, LIN and MOST.
Course Objective: By the end of this course you will be able to use an
variety of tools to perform quick accurate diagnosis of complex
vehicle network systems. You
will understand how and where to best measure signals with the
oscilloscope and network analyser, to perform physical
layer checks with a multi-meter, and how recognise the difference
between the different vehicle network and system faults.
You will also undertake module programming and gain an understanding of ECU
'suck and blow', configuration, coding, programming and its implications.

Who Should Attend: Workshop technicians who are involved with vehicle
diagnostics. To gain maximum benefit form this course attendees should have
an understanding of vehicle diagnostics and
a knowledge of basic
electrical/electronic principles.
The course covers:
Overview of vehicle networking technologies
Diagnostic techniques and fault-finding
Diagnostic Trouble Codes versus real time network data
Interactive demonstration of diagnostics using a vehicle electrical
system
CAN Failures
Waveform patterns and understand the electrical signals
Gateway ECU's
Future technologies
We encourage course participants to bring along their own hand held
scopes so that you can learn on the equipment you will use when you return to work.
The
Cost for this one day
course is £175 per person including refreshments,
lunch, training materials and
certificate of
achievement.
